A little about John,

John has continued to pursue his dream of developing a flourishing guitar company right here in the USA. Can someone take the dream of making the finest electric guitars anyone has ever seen, turn them into reality and bring it to the world in defiance of all reasons why it can’t or shouldn’t happen.  The answer is this - Guilford Guitars, Inc. does despite a market saturated with choices and overseas manufacturing.  It is not easy. It is not something that your friends and loved ones would advise that you do.  Yet the creative spirit of an artist, the skill of a luthier and the focused mindset of an engineer, designer and business man can produce those results.  This is a company dedicated to making the highest quality instruments one can buy.

An Musicians Institute G.I.T. graduate class of ‘88. Those early years were filled with hours upon hours of playing the guitar and it has payed off well in Johns transition into luthiery.  It takes someone who understands a musicians need for quality tone, the perfect feel and craftsmanship to make a guitar worthy enough for the job.  Who better to do that than a player turned luthier? John has been making custom guitars for 20 years. Experience has led to the creation of a series of prototypes many of which you see on the front page of this site.  Currently, the guitars are numbered and not considered prototypes but rather variations on the theme - the beginning.  To date, each handcrafted guitar has had a different feature to offer the owner than any of its predecessors but there is a continuity to each one that is unmistakably a Guilford guitar.  Now, the designs are refined and the stage is being set for measured expansion - the kind that builds a company known for quality and provides a product unrivaled in it’s class as a superior guitar.
